David has been involved with Gigueres since its conception. Established by his parents in 1973, he coached through his young adult years, and took over the business in 1988. Over the years he spearheaded several expansions, building the facility into the twelve program sports facility it is it today; it is easily one of the premier children sports facilities in the New England area.

After a rather lackluster career as a high school gymnast, Paul started part-time at Gigueres in 1979 while attending UMass/Amherst, and went directly into coaching full-time upon graduation with his BS in P.E. Serving as Team Director, Head Coach, and Preschool Program Director, he and David Giguere purchased the gym in 1988; subsequently tripling the size of the facility and opening Discovery Schoolhouse. He has received recognition for helping coach hundreds of athletes to State, Regional, National, and Collegiate prominence in the Women’s, Men’s, and Trampoline disciplines of USA Gymnastics.

Since retiring as MassUSAG State and School Committee Chair, he mentors entrepreneurs, volunteers within his community, coaches the Boys Team here at Gigueres, and enjoys getting beat at golf by his adult son.

My name is Ms. Brittany and I am the director of Discovery. I have
been part of the Discovery family for many years. I have worked in all
classrooms from the Lead Toddler teacher to the Lead Pre-K teacher. I
graduated from Worcester State University with a bachelors in
psychology in 2013. When I graduated, I started working in ABA as a
behavioral therapist for a year and then started as a teacher in childcare.
I have been working in the early education field for 10+ years, with my lead
teacher certification for infant/toddlers and preschool. I have earned my Directors 1 Certification and am First aid and CPR certified each year.

I have been employed at Gigueres for the past 23 years. I have lived in the area all my life. I Graduated from South High Community School followed by earning a B.S. degree in Psychology from Worcester State College(University). In my years at Gigueres, I have managed the Pro Shop, ordered all team apparel, worked at the front desk as a secretary and have now attained the position of Office Manager. I enjoy the interaction with parents and students, on a daily basis. I have watched the students grow and achieve their goals and have formed relationships with many Gigueres families, and I hope to create more of these bonds in the future.

Courtney has been working at Gigueres since 2010. She is the program director the head coach of the Xcel program and currently works with the Gold, Platinum, and Diamond divisions. Along with Xcel, she has worked with all levels of Junior Olympic (JO). Courtney started gymnastics at Gigueres at the age of 3 and went on to compete through her senior year of high school. In her freshman year of college, she competed for the University of Rhode Island club gymnastics team.

Courtney received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Framingham State and then went on to received her Master’s in Social Work at Springfield College. Along with coaching, she is also a school counselor. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, friends, and family.

Sarah trained locally in Auburn for 15 years where she competed regionally and nationally, both as a soloist and group performer. As a member and treasurer of  the Clark University Dance Society, she choreographed and performed in routines for local performances as well as fundraising events. In 2008 she performed in the Orange Bowl halftime show in Orlando Florida. She has taught various age groups from preschoolers to high school competitive teams. Sarah has been teaching dance locally for 15 years. She now teaches dance at our Worcester location as well as our Leicester location.

Aimee has been with Gigueres for many years. She has been involved with our afterschool program and is the director of Kids Club. Aimee is very dedicated to the program and loves to work with children. She enjoys providing a fun atmosphere for children of all ages.

Christian Gicas started his study of Dragon Gate style Kung Fu as a child and returned with new dedication to his practice about 4 years ago. He is director of the Kung Fu program at Gigueres.
“I came back to finish what I started and as I progressed further I really started to love what I was doing. I teach now in hopes that I’ll get one of my students to have the same feeling that I do now towards what they practice. What I teach the students that I have now is not just something for physical activity but also something that trains their mind to the best of their abilities.”

A former Giguere’s gymnast, team coach Colleen Walsh Cecchi’s teaching is influenced by a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a minor in Health and Wellness Education. Her teaching has been influenced by many years coaching competitive and recreational gymnastics, teaching dance, and dancing and choreographing professionally in Boston. With over ten years of experience teaching movement to students ages three to seventy three, Colleen cultivates a space for each student to investigate the unknown, to observe, challenge, and to appreciate oneself.

Colleen has studied movement at the American Dance Festival on full scholarship, the Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Ursinus College, and at various festivals and programs in Boston. She completed her yoga teacher training with Boston Yoga School under the guidance of Amy Wren and Susannah van der Wende.
